About Kerry & Trend Tonic

Trend Tonic began in a hospital bed.

Founder Kerry Clayton started the business during a difficult time in her life while living with chronic pain and recovering in hospital. Like many women, Kerry loved statement jewellery because it helped her feel confident and put together, even on challenging days. But traditional statement earrings are often heavy and uncomfortable, and for someone already dealing with constant pain, they simply weren’t wearable.

Instead of giving up something that made her feel good, Kerry decided to redesign it.

With no savings, no investment and no team, she began creating bold statement earrings that were lightweight, comfortable and expressive. Teaching herself everything she needed to launch a business, Kerry coded her own website during her children’s nap times and slowly built Trend Tonic from the ground up.

Today Trend Tonic is known for its distinctive cork statement earrings that combine creativity, comfort and sustainability. Cork is an incredibly lightweight natural material that allows bold designs without the weight and discomfort of traditional jewellery. It is also one of the most sustainable materials available, harvested without cutting down trees and helping cork forests absorb carbon dioxide.

What started as a personal solution to a problem has grown into a recognised independent jewellery brand worn by thousands of women. Trend Tonic jewellery has been featured on national television including Loose Women, Lorraine and Dancing on Ice, and has built a loyal community of customers who value jewellery that feels as good as it looks.

Beyond the products themselves, Kerry is passionate about using business as a force for positive change. Trend Tonic provides flexible employment opportunities for parents who need work that fits around family life, and Kerry is also part of the steering committee for the Maple Review, a national independent review exploring the barriers economic deprivation creates for people who want to start and grow businesses in the UK.

Through both her business and advocacy work, Kerry aims to show that entrepreneurship can create opportunity, representation and positive change.

Why cork?

Cork sits at the heart of Trend Tonic because it solves two problems at once: comfort and sustainability.

When founder Kerry Clayton began creating jewellery, she was looking for a material that would allow bold statement designs without the weight and discomfort that traditional jewellery often causes. Living with chronic pain meant that heavy earrings were simply not wearable, so finding something lightweight and flexible was essential.

Cork proved to be the perfect solution.

It is incredibly lightweight, soft and flexible, which allows Trend Tonic earrings to be bold and expressive while remaining comfortable enough for everyday wear. This means you can enjoy statement jewellery without the pulling, irritation or discomfort that heavier materials can cause.

Cork also happens to be one of the most sustainable materials available. It is harvested from the bark of cork oak trees without cutting the tree down, allowing the tree to continue growing and regenerating. Cork forests play an important role in absorbing carbon dioxide and supporting biodiversity, making cork a responsible choice for environmentally conscious design.

By using cork, Trend Tonic creates jewellery that is not only distinctive and comfortable, but also kinder to the planet.

It’s proof that statement jewellery can be bold, beautiful and sustainable at the same time.
